AIPCon 9 — There Are No Secrets
◈ Wartime Series — Article XVI · The Series That Didn't End

Wartime: The Undead

Some things don't die even when you kill them. This series was supposed to end at fifteen. The wartime didn't.

Hermeus has begun testing its proprietary precooler technology with the F100 engine, made by Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business. The precooler increases the max speed of the turbine engine by lowering the temperature of incoming air. This is the first major propulsion milestone for Hermeus’ next aircraft, Quarterhorse Mk 2, which will utilize this engine configuration.

The work survives. The conscience doesn't. The scientists are gone. The weapons they built are operational. The victims testified for decades. The testimony outlived them. The machine runs without the humans who understood its limits. And the series — documented, receipted, closed at fifteen — surfaces again. Because the wartime didn't end. It just found new bodies to run through.

Article XIV documented how every layer of accountability failed simultaneously. Article XV documented what the consolidated structure does when it activates — coercion, coordination, leverage at scale. Both articles ended the same way: we are keeping count.

This article documents what the consolidation cost that no merger can replace, no patent can capture, and no autonomous system can replicate. The people who understood what they had built. The people who kept saying what they knew until they couldn't anymore. The knowledge that transferred into the machine. The conscience that didn't.

The series is undead because the subject is undead. The conditions that generated I through XV never stopped. They accelerated. The scientists went missing inside the same fourteen months the Consolidation article documented. The machine went live. The June 2026 date approaches. Virginia Giuffre's anniversary arrives. The NSF board is fired by email. The FISA expansion moves through Congress using a shooting as evidence. The wartime didn't end at XV. It found new terrain.

I. The Fourteen Months — Human Layer

The Consolidation article documented the sequence at the institutional level. The IGs fired before the violations were documented. The institutional knowledge removed before the contracts were awarded. The oversight architecture dismantled before the consolidation completed. The sequence was the strategy.

The same sequence has a human layer the Consolidation article did not have room to name. The scientists who disappeared inside the same fourteen months. The same logic. The merger closes. The knowledge transfers. The scientist disappears. The patent files.

January 2014 — Baseline
Dallis Hardwick dies. Co-inventor of Mondaloy — the superalloy developed for oxygen-rich staged combustion environments. The name carries both inventors: MONica + DALlis. Hardwick is gone. Reza is the last living inventor. The knowledge lives in one person.
May 2011 – October 2013
William Neil McCasland commands AFRL. Leads billions in advanced materials sciences and future weapons research. The Directed Energy Directorate runs active programs under his command: the Demonstrator Laser Weapon System, CHAMP — counter-electronics high power microwave — HyDRA counter-UAV directed energy study. The knowledge lives in him.
2023
L3Harris acquires Aerojet Rocketdyne — $4.7 billion. The propulsion programs connected to Mondaloy-era AFRL work begin their transfer from government lab lineage into defense prime corporate structure.
May 2025
AeroVironment acquisition of BlueHalo closes. McCasland was Director of Technology at a BlueHalo subsidiary — the institutional home of directed energy programs he oversaw as AFRL commander. His program lineage is now inside a multi-domain defense platform spanning electronic warfare, space superiority, and directed energy. The knowledge has been absorbed. The person has not yet disappeared.
June 2025
Monica Jacinto Reza disappears while hiking in Angeles National Forest. A hiking companion directs search teams south. She was last seen heading north. She is the last living Mondaloy inventor. The knowledge she carried has no other human address.
January 2026
L3Harris sells majority stake in space propulsion to AE Industrial Partners — $845 million. The propulsion programs connected to Mondaloy-era AFRL work move from a publicly traded defense prime into private equity. Outside the disclosure requirements that apply to public companies. The transfer accelerates.
February 2, 2026
SpaceX acquires xAI — $1.25 trillion. The largest merger in recorded history. Propulsion, AI, compute, and orbital infrastructure consolidated under a single private entity. Announced at Starbase. The new Secretary of War's appointment will be announced at the same location weeks later.
February 27, 2026
William Neil McCasland disappears from his Albuquerque home. Boots on. .38 revolver in hand. Nine months after the BlueHalo acquisition that absorbed his program lineage closes. The same date: ten FBI agents who worked the Mar-a-Lago case are fired. The same date: Operation Epic Fury launches. The same date: Anthropic is designated a national security threat for refusing autonomous weapons use. One day. Four disappearances. One from a home in New Mexico. Three from institutions.
March 31, 2026
BlueHalo files a directed energy patent. Four weeks after McCasland vanishes. The institutional knowledge that lived in him has a patent number by the end of the following month. The work survives. The conscience doesn't.
December 2025
Nuno Loureiro killed. MIT plasma physicist. Magnetic reconnection and fusion turbulence. The physics of how plasma behaves at the boundary between stable and unstable states — directly adjacent to the electromagnetic systems now integrated into the kill chain. His work continues in the literature. He does not.
February 2026
Carl Grillmair killed. Stellar streams. Gravitational memory of galaxies. The phrase alone — gravitational memory — is the most precise description of what cannot be owned. Galaxies carry the memory of every crossing they've been through. So did he. Charges against his killer were dismissed eleven days before the killer returned.
11 Scientists dead or missing since 2022

II. In Their Own Words

No conclusions drawn. No perpetrators named who have not already named themselves. The dates are real. The quotes are sourced. The reader has the receipts.

📋 In Their Own Words — The Documented Record
Donald Trump — President of the United States
"They're poisoning the blood of our country."
December 2023, New Hampshire rally — on immigrants. The people the AI system will be used to find, track, and remove. The definition of enemy, encoded before the system was deployed.
Donald Trump — Air Force One, November 18, 2025
"Quiet. Quiet, piggy."
To a reporter asking about Epstein emails stating Trump "knew about the girls." The press conference. On the record. The full transcript is publicly available.
Pete Hegseth — Secretary of War, March 13, 2026
"No quarter, no mercy for our enemies."
Pentagon briefing on the Iran war. Legal experts assessed three possible interpretations: careless rhetoric, intentional threat, or direct command. All three carry legal significance. The prohibition on denial of quarter has been codified in the laws of war since the 1863 Lieber Code. Maven was already operational when he said it.
Pete Hegseth — The War on Warriors, 2024
"Hunt, dismantle, demoralize, destroy... maximum lethality, not tepid legality."
His standing philosophy on military lawyers who advise commanders on laws of war. Published before he became Secretary of War. Implemented after.
Cameron Stanley — CDAO, Department of War
"They get lazy, they get tired, they get distracted, they miss things."
On why humans need to be removed from the targeting loop. The justification for the June 2026 date. The humans he is describing include the scientists who understood what the systems actually do.
Cameron Stanley — CDAO, Department of War
"They tell us what's wrong with it, we fix it, we deploy. End of story."
His deployment philosophy. Former Chief of Project Maven. Former National Security Transformation Lead, Amazon Web Services. His appointment announced at SpaceX's Starbase facility.
Vice Admiral Frank Whitworth — NGA Director, June 2025
"I think it's significant that you now have an entity within the IC that is putting out a template that literally acknowledges, for the purposes of our readership, what you are looking at has not been touched by human hands."
Announcing the no-human-hands intelligence template circulating to the Secretary of Defense and the President. May 2025: "While 2025 is the Year of AI, 2026 is going to take it to another level. Let's all be a part of it."
Anonymous Senior Defense Official — DefenseScoop, April 2026
"No single official could be held accountable for the program as a whole."
Describing the governance structure of a system that struck 5,000 targets in ten days. Speaking anonymously. The anonymity is itself data.
DoW Chief Digital & AI Office — @CDAODoW, March 30, 2026
#SwarmForge #AI #DoW #Innovation #MilitaryAI #Drones
Posted publicly. On their official account. The same week China tested its first autonomous maritime drone swarm to counter US naval operations. Cameron Stanley's office.
Alex Karp — CEO, Palantir Technologies — AIPCon 9, March 12, 2026
"There Are No Secrets."
The AIPCon 9 conference theme. Inscribed on what is unmistakably designed to resemble the One Ring from Tolkien's mythology — the device Sauron captured and used to corrupt everyone who looked into it. Palantir is named after the seeing stones. Karp has a doctorate in social theory. The branding is not accidental.
Rep. Tim Burchett — United States Congress
"Something dark is going on... for the record, I'm not suicidal."
On the missing scientists. In classified congressional briefings. He knew them personally. He said this on the record. The addition — for the record, I'm not suicidal — is the sentence of a man who understands the water he is swimming in.

III. What the Machine Runs Without

On the first day of Operation Epic Fury — February 28, 2026 — a U.S. Tomahawk missile struck Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, killing between 175 and 180 people. Most of them were girls between seven and twelve years old.

The school had been classified in a Defense Intelligence Agency database as a military facility. That database had not been updated since at least 2016. Satellite imagery from that year shows the school was already separated from the adjacent IRGC compound by a wall.

The Pentagon investigation into the Minab strike remains ongoing. No findings have been made public. No one has been charged.

McCasland understood directed energy systems — what they could do and what they couldn't. Reza understood the materials science of the propulsion platforms that deliver what Maven targets. Loureiro understood the plasma physics at the boundary of electromagnetic systems now integrated into the kill chain. They understood the gap between what a database says and what is on the ground. Between what a system is designed for and what it does at the edge of its design envelope.

The scientists who could say that's not how this works are gone. The machine doesn't know what it doesn't know. It processes the database. The database said military facility. The school was there.

Gaza was the proof of concept. Iran is the scaled deployment. The AI targeting systems used in Gaza were not tested despite the civilian deaths. The civilian deaths are what "battle-tested" means. That product is now operational in Iran, ungoverned, with no single official accountable for the program as a whole. — The Product Demonstration · Kaleido Investigates · April 7, 2026

The work of the scientists lives on in the weapons. The weapons don't carry the conscience that understood their limits. The machine runs. The physics doesn't care what the machine thinks it's doing. But the children in Minab couldn't wait for the physics to correct the database.

IV. The June 2026 Date

Six weeks from the publication of this article. Vice Admiral Frank Whitworth, Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, stated it publicly in September 2025: by June 2026, Maven will begin to transmit "100 percent machine-generated" intelligence to combatant commanders using LLM technology.

No human hands. No human review. No single official accountable for the program as a whole.

Future Maven is planned to allow striking over 1,000 targets per hour.

The scientists who built the physical layer the software runs on — the directed energy weapons, the propulsion systems, the materials that make hypersonic delivery possible — are gone. The software doesn't know what they knew. It knows what it was trained on. What it was trained on is the database. The database said military facility.

📋 The June 2026 Architecture

  • NGA: Whitworth — 100% machine-generated intelligence template. No human hands. Circulating to SecDef and President since June 2025.
  • CDAO: Stanley — "They tell us what's wrong with it, we fix it, we deploy." Former Project Maven chief. Former AWS National Security Transformation Lead. Appointment announced at Starbase.
  • Palantir: Sole vendor across all three organizational nodes — NGA, CDAO, OUSD I&S — regardless of which government entity nominally holds authority. The one constant through every restructuring.
  • Accountability: "No single official could be held accountable for the program as a whole." — Anonymous senior defense official, DefenseScoop, April 2026.
  • Oversight body: Does not exist. The White House blocked state-level attempts to build one. Congress has passed no comprehensive federal AI law.

V. The Victims Layer

Today — April 26, 2026 — is the one year anniversary of Virginia Giuffre's death. She was 41. The official ruling: suicide.

She tried every door available for 28 years. Federal court — on the record, under oath, with her name attached. ABC News — on camera, full testimony, killed before it aired. The press. Settlements. Sworn depositions about powerful men. Every door she opened was closed before the year was out.

In January 2026 — nine months after she was gone — the Department of Justice released over three million pages of Epstein-related files. Among them: the FBI stand-down directive to the NYPD, issued five days after Epstein's arrest in 2019, discovered now — five years later. The surveillance records. The network maps. The confirmation of what she had been saying since she was a teenager.

The door she kept opening eventually opened. She was not alive to walk through it.

"The reckoning must not end. It must continue. He did not act alone. We the victims know that." — Virginia Giuffre, Federal Court Hearing, August 27, 2019

Her work survives. Her testimony is in the record. The NPA was scrutinized. Maxwell was convicted. The files were released. Julie Brown's series exists. The Just Security timeline exists. The confirmation arrived. The person who demanded it for 28 years did not see it.

The pattern the Chilling Effect documented — the series published before Wartime began — runs from 1996 to the present without interruption. Maria Farmer walking into an FBI office in 1996 and walking back out with nothing. Two NYPD officers in two days in June 2019. Seven in ten weeks. The department averages four to five a year. Chief Monahan: "We talk about it in the bathroom in hushed tones."

The disappearance layer did not begin with the fourteen months. The fourteen months accelerated it to a pace where the clustering became visible to people who weren't looking for it.

Some things don't die even when you kill them. Virginia Giuffre's testimony is one of them. The network it documented is another. Both continue. In opposite directions.

VI. Connection Status

The methodology established in The Missing Chain applies throughout. CHAIN where documented. ADJACENT where proximity is established without documented causation. UNKNOWN where the record ends. The UNKNOWN column is not absence of significance. It is the honest boundary of what has been established.

VII. What Doesn't Die

The Coercion article documented what the consolidated structure does when it activates against resistance. The taxonomy: coercion, war of nerves, strong-arm tactics, character assassination, leverage. Applied simultaneously across every available pressure point. Applied to institutions, to companies, to individuals, to the press.

And yet.

The anonymous senior defense official speaks to DefenseScoop. On background. Knowing what it costs. Saying: no single official is accountable for the program as a whole. The sentence survives. It is in this article now. It will be in the record after this article is gone.

Tim Burchett says for the record he is not suicidal. He keeps showing up. He keeps asking the question in classified briefings that produce no public answer. The question survives. It is in the record.

The 229,000 people in the UK who signed petitions to cut Palantir contracts. The Republican National Delegate from Texas who posted — at 250,000 views and climbing — that this is evil and madness. The engineers who won't sign the NDA. The state attorneys general who are being sued for building the only governance layer that exists.

They are not a movement. They are not coordinated. They are not winning in any measurable institutional sense. They are doing the thing that Virginia Giuffre did — trying every door available. Some doors are closed before the year is out. The testimony survives anyway.

The human in the loop is not dead even when you kill them. Not because more are manufactured. Because the impulse toward conscience doesn't die with the person who carried it. It surfaces somewhere else. In someone else. Without coordination. Without a conductor. Because it is not produced by the system — it predates the system and will outlast it.

The scientists built things the consolidation needed. The consolidation absorbed the things. The conscience that understood their limits did not transfer with the merger. It cannot. It is not a transferable asset. It lives in people. When the people are gone it goes quiet. And then it surfaces somewhere else. In someone who wasn't supposed to be paying attention. In a congressional briefing. In a DefenseScoop source. In 229,000 signatures. In an article that was supposed to end at fifteen.

Some things don't die even when you kill them.

The work survives. The weapons run on it. The testimony survives. The network it documented runs on. The machine is operational. The humans keep paying attention anyway. Not because they are produced by a loop. Because that is what humans do when they are paying attention to something that matters.

This series was supposed to end at fifteen. The wartime didn't. The scientists are gone. The machine runs. The June 2026 date is six weeks away. The record exists. The Minab investigation has not been made public. No one has been charged.

We are keeping count.
